PeerVoice
About
PeerVoice is a reliable zero-configuration voice chat system. PeerVoice is stable and ready. Why bother setting up a Teamspeak server or rent a Ventrillo server when PeerVoice is so affordable and easy to use?
Features
- Peer 2 Peer technology. All voice data goes directly from device to device. This minimizes latency, ensures privacy, and removes the traditional high bandwidth voice server.
- Channel system for voice chat. You don't have to mess around with calling someone or figuring out how to host a conference call. You just jump into a channel and talk.
- It works with most firewall/router configurations without any changes.
- You can share select pictures from your photo library with everyone in a channel at once.
- Friends list. You can see who is online or offline.
- Viewable profiles. You can customize each field to be visible to friends or everyone.
- Integrated Web Browser. You can use safari to browse the internet while you are talking in PeerVoice.
- PeerVoice is totally free to use after purchase.
- Channels can be password protected.
- Efficient Bandwidth Usage. Although peervoice already uses highly compressed but high quality audio, we thought it best if it only uses bandwidth when you are actually talking. Bandwidth usage is proportional to the number of people talking, not the number of people in the channel.
- Audio Filtering. PeerVoice uses audio filters to remove some background noise and static.
We appreciate user feedback and will attempt to add the most requested features!
Tips
- iPod Touch users will need a headset. The iPod touch does not have a microphone.
- When there are a lot of users in the channel it is best if most of the users have Push To Talk turned on.
- You must be in a channel with other users to voice chat. However you can text anyone at anytime.
- You can invite people to your channel. You do this by using the Options button while viewing their profile. We will add additional methods to invite people soon.
- Channels will time out and disappear after 72 hours of inactivity.
- Pictures posted to a channel will time out and disappear after 48 hours.
- Once you have joined a channel or been invited to it, you will never have to enter the password again. Just press the 'join' button in your channel library.
- Use Push To Talk if you have a lot of background noise or music playing. Unless of course you want everyone to hear it.
FAQ
Q: Why can I sometimes hear myself when talking to others?
A: This is an effect known as feedback. We have taken steps to minimize this, but with some configurations its difficult to eliminate it altogether. If you are hearing feedback, ask your conversation partners to turn down their volume, or ask them to use push to talk.
Q: What headsets do you recommend?
A: You should look at iPod accessories on Apple's website and check the reviews for different headsets to make an educated decision. If you have trouble using the normal ear buds that come with the iPod/iPhone, we suggest you avoid the in-ear headsets.
